Opened in 2011, the Anjema Eye Centre is a state of the art medical center dedicated to providing advanced clinical and surgical care, including:

  • cataract surgery
  •  glaucoma laser and medical treatment
  •  retinal laser
  • wet and dry age related macular degeneration diagnostics and treatment with Lucentis and Avastin
  • eyelid tumor removal and reconstruction
  •  and cosmetic eyelid surgery

AEI has a full compliment of additional services including:

  • cutting-edge, advanced diagnostics
  • full operating room licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario for glaucoma, cataract and oculoplastic surgery
  • research centre
  • professional development centre for teaching optometrists, family doctors, residents, staff and visiting surgeons with full compliments of digital communication devices
Anjema Eye Institute’s outstanding Chatham facility was chosen as a Project Excellence Award Winner by the London & District Construction Association.

Dr. Christopher Anjema, MD, FRCS(C)

Dr. Christopher Anjema, MD, FRCS(C) trained at the Ivey Institute at The University of Western Ontario in Ophthalmology. His fellowship training was completed at Emory University, Atlanta Georgia. He has been practicing in the Chatham-Kent area since July of 2004.

Dr. Anjema is the Medical Director of the Anjema Surgical Centre, a College approved Level 2 facility. He teaches medical students, family medicine residents and senior ophthalmology residents from medical schools across Canada. He has been selected by multinational eye care companies as a model practice for Canadian and US Surgeons.

He has been married to Michelle since 1999 and they have 4 children. Dr. Anjema and family reside in Chatham-Kent.

Ophthalmic Assistant

Barb has worked in the Optometry and Ophthalmic field since 2004. She was born and raised in Chatham and now resides in Port Lambton with her son. Working with Dr.Anjema has given Barb the opportunity to develop and maintain her skills as an ophthalmic assistant. Barb is looking forward to many more years working as an OA at Anjema Eye Institute.

Ophthalmic Assistant & Optician

Sheena has been working with Dr.Anjema since 2010 and loves it. Sheena is married and is from the Chatham Kent area.

Ophthalmic Assistant Student

Jane is currently enrolled in the Ophthalmic Assistant course and also works in our diagnostic department. Jane has 20 years experience in customer service and comes with 2.5 years experience in Optometrics.

Becky is currently enrolled in the Ophthalmic Assistant course and also works in our diagnostic department. Becky also brings with her a Customer service background and Nutrition.

Kay has been working with Dr.Anjema since starting his practice in 2004. A lifelong resident of Chatham-Kent with a number of years spent in the medical field, she has two daughters and one granddaughter. She works in Health Records and is proud to be a staff member of Anjema Eye Institute.

Joanna works in our billing department. She is currently enrolled in the Ophthalmic Assistant course. Joanna was born and raised in Chatham and came to us from a local doctor’s office.

Known to us here at Anjema Eye Institute as Uncle Jack, he works in our chart room and is responsible for pulling, filing and running after charts. Uncle Jack has been married for over 40 years to same lovely woman and has two great kids. He is also the proud grandpa of 3.

Veronica has been a RPN for 36 years employed at CKHA and Anjema Eye Institute and feels privileged to be a part of such a great place. Dutch is married with 2 children and 1 granddaughter.

Ophthalmic Assistant/Reception

Janet is one of the two bright and smiling faces that you see at main reception at AEI. She’s also an Ophthalmic Assistant and has been working for Dr. Anjema for 3 years. She is a lifetime resident of Blenheim with 2 lovely children. She comes with 25 years of medical experience.

Ophthalmic Assistant

After 19 years in the ophthalmic field, Shelley is a mother of 4, a grandmother to 1, a certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician and working on her Sterile Processing Course at Lambton College. She works in the Decontamination/Sterile Processing area at Anjema Eye Institute.

Vel’s worked with Dr. Anjema since 2005. She’s an RPN with many years of experience, and is responsible for setting up the OR and coordinating all aspects of the surgical department. She feels privileged to be a parat of AEI. A lifelong Chatham resident, she’s married and has 2 daughters.

Larry has over 30 years experience at the hospital cleaning the OR. He now works for Dr.Anjema and does an awesome job!

Maddie has been working for Dr. Anjema since 2011. She currently works in our diagnostic department in Sarnia. Maddie has been married to her husband Scott for 19 years and they have 3 wonderful children.

Ophthalmic Assistant Student

Patrycja has currently enrolled in the Ophthalmic Assistant course and works in our diagnostic department. Patrycja has over 4 years experience in the Optometric Field, she is happily married with 4 year old twin girls.

Kathy

Registered Nurse

Kathy has been a critical Care R.N. for 27 years. She has worked at Victoria hospital in London, currently at CKHA part time in the OR and casual part time at Anjema Eye Institute. Kathy enjoys working in different areas of nursing. She is married and lives on a busy farm with two great sons

Julie is a registered nurse with 28 years of experience in the Emergency Department and Operating Room at CKHA. She’s worked with Dr. Anjema in the OR since he came to Chatham in 2004 and loves her job!

Janice started working with Dr. Anjema in 2010 in the billing department and has since been promoted to Clinic Coordinator. She is a life-long resident of Chatham-Kent and is married with two beautiful daughters.
